About Me...
Karen Katin, B.S., MaEd.
I knit badly, but I sew rather well. My graduate degree in education, 35+ years of sewing experience, several years teaching high school, 6 more years running a successful handmade bag business and Etsy shop have all merged to become my new career teaching sewing classes in Rhode Island. In Spring of 2017, I opened The Stitchery, a needle arts studio with my friend and business partner Traci Vaspol. She teaches knitting, I teach sewing. We have just the right workshop or class series for children as young as 5 through adults. New workshops are in the works, so follow The Stitchery on Instagram, Facebook, and join our new email newsletter. In addition to teaching a wide range of children and adult classes at Stitchery, you might also see me teaching at various libraries around the state of Rhode Island, and mentoring youth in a sewing group making pillowcases for the patients at Hasbro Childrens Hospital. Education: Bachelor of Science in Biology, Drexel University MaEd. Curriculum and Instruction, The College of William and Mary |
