Bitten by the Embroidery Bug

A new market and festival season calls for some new products. You can see everything in my Etsy shop, but I'd like to show them to you one at a time over several posts here.

Embroidery never really interested me, probably because of the time factor. Nowadays, I have large pockets of time away from my sewing machine that I don't want to spend on an iPhone. Who else out there is spending a few hours a week at after school activities?? Handwork seems the perfect activity for me to keep my hands busy, work while away from the studio, but also be able to pay attention to the activity my children are so jazzed about. Knitting fits this need beautifully, but I'm still not feeling like a knitter.

This past month I dove into the world of embroidery and am quite hooked. What got me started? A free project that came with a copy of Mollie Makes Magazine.

That's about as far as I got. I needed to figure out French Knots to go further. While practicing knots, this happened.

All those French Knots are pretty time consuming, but the final product is well worth it. Sheep are timely with the Wool and Fiber Festivals around the corner.

While exploring ideas for another project (still on the horizon), I started learning to make different flowers.

Turning all these embroidered lovelies into zippered pouches seemed an obvious choice, don't you think?

I'm looking forward to trying this beautiful variegated thread.

A magazine freebie has lead to a new handwork hobby for after school activities, plus an activity for slower times at festivals. I'm a happy stitcher!

thank you for your blog. Your blog is very informative and provides me the best content. I've visible a website that provides me machine embroidery offerings at a low budget my revel in was suitable.
